Meet your school Counselor
Greetings! My name is La’Tonya Hannah, and I am pleased to be the School Counselor for Walker Park Elementary. I am excited to join the WPES family and I look forward to an awesome 2016-2017 school year! I am anticipating getting to know the students and families of WPES, building positive relationships, and successful interactions.
My background includes 19 years as a professional Educator consisting of classroom teaching and counseling. I was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA where I began my career as an Educator. I relocated to Georgia in 2004 with my family. I am the proud mother of 4 wonderful children who are my world. They keep me motivated, and provide me with daily doses of laughter and smiles. My hobbies include spending time with my family, traveling, decorating, and reading.
As your school counselor, I am dedicated to ensuring that your child has every opportunity to succeed in a safe, nurturing environment. My goal is that your child will be enriched intellectually, emotionally, and socially so that they will become productive citizens and life-long learners. By investing in our children now we create opportunities to yield bright futures and shape successful adults. WPES understands that every child is unique, which is why we offer a variety of services to meet every child's needs. I serve our student body by connecting with our students academically, personally, socially/emotionally, and helping them identify career interests. Throughout the year, I will conduct small groups, and provide individual counseling. I will also present lessons on different topics, such as friendship, study skills, career choices, and problemsolving, just to name a few. In addition, the counseling department offers many programs and resources to meet the needs of our parents and students.
Please feel free to contact me if I can be of any assistance. I am so happy to be here to serve you!
