leap after school tutoring program
Leap
Learning, Enrichment, & Academic Programs
What is Leap?
We are a federally funded program and a part of the 21st Century Community Learning Centers Program (21st CCLC). There is no charge for students to attend.
What is 21st CCLC?
It is part of the NO Child Left Behind Act of 2001. LEAP became part of this act in 2003. The 21st CCLC program centers offer academic, artistic, and cultural enrichment opportunities to students and their families when school is not in session. The primary goal is to supplement the education of children so that they meet state core curriculum content standards.
Who is allowed to participate?
We serve grades 1-5. Those who are most in need of help will have priority. After these students are enrolled we will accept other students as space is available. We encourage parents to participate. You are welcome to visit any time.
When is LEAP offered?
The program is from 3:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday.
What is the LEAP schedule?
Students come to the gym for a nutritious snack and recreation, from 3:30 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. They will then go to teachers until 6:30 p.m. During this time there will be homework help and tutoring in math and reading. We have a certified teacher for each grade level. Our regular day teachers and tutoring teachers communicate frequently about students. All students receive computer time 1 day per week. All of the activities of the tutoring program compliment the regular day academic programs. We do provide transportation. All buses will be off campus by 6:30 p.m.
The 21st Century Grant and last year’s evaluation can be viewed at the site coordinators office in the school. If you have any questions please call 770-207-3251. I will be glad to talk with you or set up a time to met with you.
